Live from nature’s own {=}

Leaves wander through the morning,
so anxious to see what the day holds.
Up, up and awake.

Trees gather together, collecting morning reports of the night’s revels and the pretty ones shine in the light and smile toward the camera to present the morning show.

Live from nature’s own.

Sunflower Umbrellas, protect the race & save the world {=}

I continually start to feel like UAE is going to become an actual Atlantean city.

Seems like an out-of-earth zone where lots of these new things are being tested and implemented.  Either way, it’s good to see plans for a cleaner future.

I’m up for anything {=}

you got a car? I do, but mine won’t make it that far
problem with the exhaust, or something. but i got a pocket full of balinese tobacco that my girl got me from her last stint
let’s just go, leave the winter behind and chase the summer sun
and listen to summer sun on repeat

grocer’s shop won’t stock your phone credit, plus the battery’s dead
anyway, she used a payphone and i thought it was awesome to hear her voice through the rough filter of a plastic handset
where did they all go anyway? what other use for shrapnel?
meet for a coffee with the table covered in notes

stayed another evening to try out the sex; romance has nothing on a good night’s sleep (sometimes)
plus the love came in dreams

the other night, turned a sandwich into a dinner and soaked up the old wine
the simple pleasures are still pleasures (despite a career change) and salaries taste of sand

Armed with a schnitzel and a cleanskin shiraz {=}

they weren’t quite ready for what he had to say
reactions were a silver doorknob shined and covered with silk socks

i’m staying in tonight; armed with a schnitzel and a cleanskin shiraz
saying ‘fuck you’ to the night and paying thy poverty

the wolves won’t even touch him; cower down and sniff my dirt
granted entry to your scene, i put my ear to the ground expecting thunder
and instead i grasp at lightning sparks from his posterized chest

tattooing gig posters on your forehead and still they won’t go

expression baby [say what your soul sings] {=}

[through dark times] this song has got me through alot over the years. expression, baby!

Don’t be afraid
Open your mouth and say
Say what your soul sings to you
Your mind can never change
Unless you ask it to
Lovingly re-arrange
The thoughts that make you blue
The things that bring you down
Only do harm to you
And so make your choice joy
The joy belongs to you
And when you do
You’ll find the one you love is you
You’ll find you
Love you
Don’t be ashamed no
To open your heart and pray
Say what your soul sings to you
So no longer pretend
That you can’t feel it near
That tickle on your hand
That tingle in your ear
Oh ask it anything
Because it loves you dear
It’s your most precious king
If only you could hear
And when you do
You’ll find the one you need is you
You’ll find you
Love you

Massive Attack – What Your Soul Sings

Don’t be afraid
Open your mouth and say
Say what your soul sings to you

Your mind can never change
Unless you ask it to
Lovingly re-arrange
The thoughts that make you blue
The things that bring you down
Only do harm to you
And so make your choice joy
The joy belongs to you

And when you do
You’ll find the one you love is you
You’ll find you
Love you

Don’t be ashamed no
To open your heart and pray
Say what your soul sings to you

So no longer pretend
That you can’t feel it near
That tickle on your hand
That tingle in your ear
Oh ask it anything
Because it loves you dear
It’s your most precious king
If only you could hear

And when you do
You’ll find the one you need is you
You’ll find you
Love you

[!] Eric Whitacre: A choir as big as the Internet {=}

From TED.COM

185 voices from 12 countries join a choir that spans the globe: “Lux Aurumque,” composed and conducted by Eric Whitacre, merges hundreds of tracks individually recorded and posted to YouTube. It’s an astonishing illustration of how technology can connect us.

BRIS: The Versus Show 4 (Friday 9th April) {=}

Taken from: Australian Edge

The Versus Show hits back with its very unique 4th edition. This collaborative show features Kylie Fisk (Brisbane) Vs. Laura Skerlj (Melbourne). These two female artists have been exploring the land of dreams, the sublime, nature, and ethereal landscapes through their mediums of photography and painting. The rest of the gallery for the opening night will be transformed into an interactive and engaging dreamlike scene; turning the gallery environment into something quite surreal.
Special entertainment by Hero & Shadow, a new musical project, specifically designed for The Vs. Show. In duo formation-(Madeleine Paige & Arundel). The ‘versus’ concept was spawned in 2008 by artist Mel Baxter (curator CURVY 09, Frankie Hand Drawn & Dane Beesley’s New York Buck)

Friday, 9th April – 7pm @ Joshua Levi Galleries– 4 Ipswich Rd. Wooloongabba. Brisbane.

This post was submitted by Mel Baxter.

Title Track [Death Cab For Cutie] {=}

From my favourite Death Cab album (We Have The Facts And We’re Voting Yes)

Title Track.

Left uninspired by the crust of railroad earth that touched the lead to the pages of your manuscript.

I took my thumb off the concrete and saved up all my strength to hammer pillars for a picket fence.

It wasn’t quiet what it seemed… a lack of pleasantries (my able body isn’t what it used to be).

I must admit I was charmed by your advances… your advantage left me helplessly into you.

Talking how the group had begun to splinter and I could taste your lipstick on the filter…

I tried my best to keep my distance from your dress but call-response overturns conviction every time.

My memory cannot recall… a wave of alcohol we shared a cigarette and shaved the hours off.

Lushing with the hallway congregation, my best judgement signed its resignation.

I rushed this.
We moved too fast, and tripped into the guestroom.

A few photos from Ric’s {=}

It was a fine evening. Despite the power-outage.. the music continued on. We all had so much fun. Thanks to all who come and supported. Special thanks to Denis/Pensive Penguin for supporting. Happy Birthday to Denis too.

Thanks to Tania Bahr-Vollrath for these.

Wave Power – Video + Article {=}

Interesting article on using the ocean for energy. I like how the forms are generally passive in their impact on the surroundings. No dirty smokeclouds. Just swaying in the ocean. Anyway. You can see the full article @ New Scientist Magasine.

We, My Siblings, The Message behind your Agenda. [septembre2008] {=}

we are all musicians
we are all travellers
they all try their best
to ensure we have a ticket
and know our destination

yes, we are all musicians
and you, Mr. Educated are with us
you hate us because you cannot see the art beneath your pen
and the message behind your agenda

we all have pens and paper
we all visit the chemist
for our fix; to fix us
and diagnose to pacify
our voices for profit

we all sleepwalk and stop when the lights are red
we all do justice to our dreams
in waking up and looking ahead
up in the clouds, the soldiers’ uniforms burst at the seams

we are all artists
we were all once babies
dreaming awake to find everything anew
our mothers coloured between the lines
of the morbid monotone of age
and protected us from the flashlights on stage

we are all writers and we are all travellers
john sits at his desk, makes rhythms of mouseclicks
louise colour codes her filing system, paints
skye connects names to faces, portraiture
